🧄 Roasted Garlic with Herbs & French Bread

A rustic and aromatic appetizer, this roasted garlic with rosemary and thyme is slow-baked in broth until golden and tender. Spread it over warm French bread for a comforting, herb-infused bite.

Ingredients

  • 4 firm heads of garlic
  • 2 rosemary sprigs
  • 2 thyme sprigs
  • ½ cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced and warmed or toasted

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

Prep garlic: Trim the top papery skin from each garlic head to expose the tips of the cloves.

  3. 3

Arrange: Place garlic heads in a small ovenproof dish. Pour broth around them.

  4. 4

Season: Drizzle olive oil over each garlic head. Tuck rosemary and thyme sprigs around them. Sprinkle with sea salt.

  5. 5

Bake: Roast for 1 hour, basting with broth every 15 minutes, until cloves are soft and golden.

  6. 6

Serve: Squeeze roasted garlic out of skins and spread onto warm or toasted French bread. Drizzle with pan juices.

Yield: Serves 4
